How to create a success mindset?

No matter our culture and nationality, we are all conditioned to doubt ourselves. It is difficult for everyone to deprogramme self-doubt and to reprogramme self-esteem and self-confidence.

Here are some ideas that will help you believe more in yourself.

Visualise

Visualisation is an old principle that enables you to see what you want in order to get what you want. People who visualise on a daily basis are more focused and more motivated to work towards their goals. Visualisation goes well with a vision board. A vision board is a kind of visual representation of the things and projects you want to achieve in life. To create a vision board, take some old magazines and cut the images you like, such as a graduation ceremony, a beautiful house or a family portrait image. Put them together onto your board and look at it every day. Use it to identify what exactly you want to possess and to achieve.

Have projects, not dreams

Personally, I don’t use the word ‘dream’. This is because for me a dream refers to something abstract and unachievable. Instead of dreams, I have projects. A project is something realistic that I can achieve if I work on it. When I have a certain project, I first design a plan that outlines the exact steps that I need to follow. Then, I write this plan onto a notepad. Writing is a powerful and therapeutic tool as it materialises the ideas that are first designed in your mind. The materialisation process gives them consistency and motivates me to move out of my comfort zone.

Initiate actions

Having a good project and visualising it is not enough. To succeed in something, you need to take actions and work hard on it. Try different options and don’t be afraid of failure. Remember: determined people always get what they want - always. It only takes time. Give yourself time and be patient and consistent. Focus on the learning rather than the final result. The learning process will enable you to identify your strengths and weaknesses and will build the initial foundation from which you are going to expand your centres of interest and expertise.

Act ‘as if’

One of best ways to create a success mindset is to act as if you have already achieved what you want or as if you are already the person you want to be. Ask yourself: ‘If I have already achieved my goals, what kind of person I would be?’ ; ‘How would l act?’; ‘How would I treat others?’; ‘What kind of lifestyle would I have?’. Whatever answers you give to these questions, start to act as all this is happening now. Start to behave as the person you would like to be; start to treat others as your successful self would like to treat them, etc. This exercise is much more powerful than you think. What happens is that your subconscious mind will find creative ways to achieve these goals. Your problem-solving skills will automatically work for you.
